Nonsense.   It is all about what you personally consider to be sane.

That's the way to miss important info - the best way to read a man
page is carefully, once, beginning to end (and then again, if needed).

For that, I prefer the original more (rather than the bastardised less),
with no going backwards at all.  Enforces much better discipline.

But again, it is all a matter of taste and personal preference, there
is no right or wrong, different people have different opinions - sometimes
strongly held, which is why this kind of discussion is just a recipe for
generating heat, with little chance of achieving anything productive.

As long as there's a method that allows people to choose which way they
prefer it to work (and there is) there is little to be gained by arguing
about it.
