When moving copying contacts from any device to another device; if you have
a lot of fields filled in like home address, work address, home/work web
addresses, birth dates, etc... It is a very good idea to check them on the
new device to ensure that all fields got copied. This is true when going
from a Nokia phone to some type of other device including a computer. I've
found some times that Home numbers aren't copied if you also have an work
number. Only the work number gets copied and the home number is ignored.
Also on the new device if you have more than one number! You want to check
to make sure the field type of information is also on the new phone. I found
sometimes the non Nokia devices will just call everything Mobile. Then you
have to go and change things to put it rite. This is dependent on how things
are copied to the other device.

I'm not saying you had this issue; I'm saying you need to check things like
that to make sure all your data was copied. But with 1,500 contacts, you
probably want to check any contacts that have more than just 1 number
entered. Ones that have more data it is important to me to make sure I have
all of it on a new device and or my computer be it another Nokia or
whatever.

To me in looking at the VCF files that the Nokia phone produces; It places
the work type of numbers before the home type of numbers then when they get
imported lets say on my computer; It finds the work stuff first uses it and
ignores the home stuff. If I change the VCF file to move the home numbers up
above the work numbers; than try to import the VCF file it works like it
should and all the numbers are there.

So again when going to a new device no matter what it is; always verify your
information on more complex contact entries to ensure all your data is there
and is labled correctly. You don't want to find it some of it is miss labled
and or just missing after you may have gotten rid of the old device.

Hi /Dennis

I just went through the same problem a few weeks ago.

I solved the problem by going to the Optus store.
The manager of the store simply connected my n86 and the IPhone5 to a
special computer that they have setup and transferred approx. 1500 contacts
for me.

It took her around 20-25 mins to do the transfer.

HTH

cheers
Mario
