Hi there,

Yes, you can calculate the routes online, however having the map data on the
phone will speed up route calculation as well as reducing the amount of data
needed or allowing offline operation completely which is beneficial to those on
pay-as-you-go data plans or when roaming.

Hi Hussein,

I am a tad confused. Don't Nokia maps look things up online?

HI,

THIS PROBLEM CAN SOMETIMES OCCUR IF THE MAP DATA HAS BEEN CORRUPTED. Has your
phone crashed at any point whilst using Maps?

It has been said that deleting the Cities folder on the phone memory (either
internal or memory card), then starting Maps, then re-downloading any map data
can resolve this issue. You would need to use the Ovi Suite to re-download the
maps, although I have heard there is also a website where you can download the
data in zip format which can then be extracted directly into the memory. I
don't remember the site off the top of my head but could have a look if needed.

HTH.
