You can get the following ^ by going into the Symbol screen by pressing and holding the star on keypad phones for about one second. Then press the left arrow a few times until you hear Talks say power sign ^. That is the way I get it on my n95 and other keypad phones. With the keyboard phones you may need to bring up the symbol screen with a different. way.
