AN APPEAL FOR HELP
Dear friends wish you a happy new year 2011 on behalf of The DWAB
(Development and Welfare Association of the Blind) Andhra Pradesh
India. Our association started a hostel in 1996 for the children of
integrated education system at Nalgonda. In 1999 it was converted in
to a secondary residential school as “Nalgonda School for the Blind”.
We had constructed a four storied building with 42 rooms in DWAB own
land with the donations from the patrons. We have Administrative Block
and Class Rooms in Ground Floor. We also have Braille type learning
centre, Braille printer for preparation of brail notes, one Dinning
Hall, Kitchen and separate dormitory for girls are in the first floor.
In the second floor we have Computer Learning Centre, Boys dormitory,
Braily Books Library and store room and at third floor a well
furnished auditorium with 500 seating capacity and one small guest
house for care taker is constructed. We can proudly claim for fame
that no such blind school is functioning in entire Andhra Pradesh with
such excellent amenities and infrastructure.
Today there are about 146 blind students with separate facilities for
boys and girls. We are providing Hostel facility with Education
totally free for blind.
This school is running by DWAB-Nalgonda with partial aid by the
Government of India through the Ministry of Social Justice and
empowerment since 1999 and donations from NRIs & philanthropists. The
school is recognized by the Government, having higher standards of
Braille education. The school has been fetching 100% results since its
inception in 1996. We have 22 well trained Teachers and 15 members as
supporting staff. As you know, these disabled children need more no of
supporting staff than able children.
Several dignitaries from Government and eminent personalities from
public life visited our school and expressed their utmost satisfaction
and happiness over the functioning of the school.
We appeal to all the people to direct parents of the blind children in
the age group of 6 to 16 years to admit in our school. They will be
provided school and hostel facilities free of cost from classes 1st to
10th.
We are spending nearly Rs.3.00 lacs for boarding expenses, salaries
and maintenance charges per month. We need Rs.36 to 40 lacs(approx.)
per annum to run the school. The Ministry of Social Justice and
empowerment has issued a grant-in-aid of Rs.21.06 lacs in 2006-07,
Rs.21.94 lacs in 2007-08 and Rs.23.87 lacs in 2008-09. For the year
2009-10 we did not receive the grant. We had appealed the Government
of India for release of grant.
We thank all the donors’ philanthropists for your kind generosity and
we once again appeal to save the blind children from hunger and the
school from closure. The children will be on streets. Save this
institution, brought up by you.
We are happy to make it known that donations received by this
organization will have 100 percent tax exemption under the provision
of 35 A.C. of the income tax Act. Our organization has been permitted
to mobilize funds under this act to the tune of Rs.7.63 crores vide
