But there will be sound. talks will tell you the information. I use Talks
commands all the time while on a call and i do not un mute it first. I
use
Talks up arrow to see who is calling when another call comes in while i'm
on the phone. I use it to find out the time. I use it from time to time
to
change the volume if i'm on a bus and more. There is no need to un mute
it
if you are just doing Talks commands. The information will be read. Give
it a try and you will see that i'm correct. Try a Talks 5 or Talks 6 or
any other Talks command while on a call with Talks muted and you will
find
Talks read the result of the Talks command being issued.

Hi,
If you are not comfortable with setting it up in your audio setting,
which
is rather confusing at times, you can just lower down your talks volume
while on the line.
Make a call to any answering service or voice mail. Of course, you can do
it with calling just any number. If you have Talks mute while on line,
then Press Talks +Cancel/Delete key to unmute Talks. Then just press
Talks +5 to lower volume.
I once had this issue as well especially after hanging up a call or
canceling a call or a failed call. Due to this, I even set the volume
while on line to even lower then the normal volume. Will increase it
only
when needed. Always remember to lower it back after using on line
talking.
Regards,
KITT.

Being you have Talks 5.01.1 installed. Go in and check your audio setting
for Talks for when you are on a call. This is in the Talks setting, then
options, then audio settings. Then select whit setting you want to look
at. After that, you will find 5 settings that have to deal with the
volume
and other things you want to look at the two that deal with volume during
a call. What are they set two? Compare them to the two setting for when a
call isn't in progress. Are they the same? If one is louder then the
other
one, this could explain what you are seeing.

Hi Stephen,
I am running the latest version of talks 5.1.1 and the latest
eloquence.
When I dial phone numbers ETC it's fine. It's only when I sometimes hang
up from calls or the scenario I explained earlier.

Ok in your case, being i told you not to say what you did! I will now
tell
you that you need to update your Talks to version 5.01.1 from the old
version of Talks 4.x you are running. If you are using Eloquence you need
to
also make sure that you have version 6.1.123 installed. I did say latest
copy is not a answer i will accept and would take it as you are running a
old copy. Again always include the correct version number when asking for
help. Never say latest copy being that isn't a answer that will help
anyone.
As far as we know, you may have a version from 1 year ago and that is on
longer the latest copy. This is why i do not accept that answer.
So please do the above and see how it works for you.
Another question! When you dial a phone number from the standby screen!
Does
the volume increase for Talks as you are pressing the numbers?

Subject: [Talks] Talks speaking Very loud issue.
Hi All,
I have a strange query but hopefully one of you can assist.
If I am in the middle of writing a text and someone phones me,
firstly
the name of the caller is shrieked out by my phone at a very loud
volume
and then once I have finished the call and resume my text, again
speech
is
extremely loud and only goes back to it's original volume once the text
has
been sent and I go back to the start menu.
This is a bit embarrassing when in a public place or in a meeting.
So, Any ideas how I can stop this happening. I'm very happy with all
my
settings but this is a pain.
Thanks.
