we've gone from most to many now still we are waiting for a list of these.
memorizing the keystrokes for setting the region date and time can be made
invalid at the next firmware upgrade, Every time I've purchased a new phone
or formatted an existing model I have to wait for sighted help and with the
newer phones it's more of a challenge as there are all these damn set-up
screens and wizards. Before it was just region, date and time. While you
are getting past all the wizards text messages come in from nokia and
service provider as soon as region date and time are set and wow do they
distract borrowed eyes. some phones give the show or cancel screen some now
do not. And now with touch keys coming in to the picture sighted help want
to move the arrow keys themselves as they say "you don't stay on anything
long enough for me to read it."
So perhaps with some older models running old firmware you may be able to
get the phone ready to install talks but most if not all totally blind users
require sighted assistance to get their phone useable.

I would like to see the talks installer open the system clock and turn on
the auto time update feature. Then you could buy a new phone and not
require sighted help. it would have to check if a sim card were present
but it does so for the sim license. When I get sighted help now to set
time
and date I just get them to tell me when I am at the main screen skipping
the time and date as once you get into clock and settings and enable auto
time update then press softkey1 twice it's done it could even use the
positioning servers to set the country and region. It would just be nice
to
know that all you had to do was click on the talks installer. hopefully
it
will happen in the not to distant future. Remember the days when talks
would mute during all calls and to get this fixed became one of my hobby
horses. Now to be able to install talks independently of sighted
assistance
would be extremely useful for many blind people who live alone and may
only
have visits from a couple of sighted people in a week.

I think other voices need 2have some impvoovemens especially reading
symbols. I realise that vocalizers can't read symbols such as smily face
and sad face.

Hello all.
I think a brilliant improvement on Talks is once a license has been
activated Talks could still let you try the other voices, even though it
may only work for ten minutes. At least then the user can decide if they
wish to purchase the voice or not. At the minute once we are licensed we
are locked to that voice.
