I'd then ask what the criteria for deciding to add (or not) a link is: Do we add a link every time a side route joins the pavement, or even every few hundred meters, in case a user wants their router to tell that they could walk over the kerb? Do we only add them when someone spots a case where their route is less than optimal (like this email thread), which feels like it may fall foul of "don't tag for the router/renderer/..."? Should we *not* add such links in regions like the US, where it may be illegal for a pedestrian to try and enter/cross a highway other than at a marked crossing?
