Situation when there are no barriers to changing widely used tags is very dangerous. What would happen if somebody would see one of numerous discussions about how highway tag is "incorrect" (as it could signify things which are not highways) and propose a new schema with totally different tags, and then iD goes out of fashion, somebody writes a new editor ChakaLakaLekker, makes the "new" road/way schema the default/only one available and in some time starts deprecating/removing highway tags. Would that be OK? If not, why was it allowed with water? P.S. Christophs thoughts are also right on spot, but it requires going even further - to cartography. _______________________________________________ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
