The wiki for the disused prefix has been amended since the last time this
came
up, and a long way down the page, after several mentions that disused=yes
should
not be used, it concedes that disused=yes could be used on those objects.
I would
suggest that explanation should be expanded to include all physical objects
and those
exceptions given the first time disused=yes is mentioned.

OSM Carto will handle such objects,

English usage of modal verbs has subtle differences from other Germanic
languages,
particularly with respect to "will." OSM carto does currently ignore
disused=yes.
Are you telling me that it is guaranteed, by the core developers, that it
always
will ignore disused=yes (or, at most, render slightly differently)? If OSM
carto
core developers can give that guarantee then we can amend the wiki
accordingly,
describing when it is appropriate to use disused;key=value and when to add
disused=yes and what the effects of those two approaches will be on standard
carto.

If we have that guarantee, and document it, there's a chance other cartos
will
adopt the same approach. Otherwise all we can do is document that it works
that way on standard carto today, but there is no guarantee that it will
work
in the future.
