Yves, " mapping a way is simpler than a relation for most." I totally understand that. In fact, in the first of those references, the opening statement is " Usually the pipeline is mapped just with simple ways".I think that's a valid approach for short pipelines but this thing is huge. Whoever created it used a relation for whatever reason and I think it was a good decision. Now, however, we're faced with mapping and understanding it. The Wiki hasn't been much help and, obviously, there is disagreement among member of this group as to what is right and proper.
Trying to understand exactly what a relation is and how it relates to its constituent parts was, and is, the reason for my comments to this thread. It's been a very valuable thread for me because through it, I've learned a lot.
