How best should I tag informal swimming areas?  These typically have no lifeguard or facilities. An example deep-content site for these types of holes is:

In OSM is it best to create an area and tag sport=swimming/name=xxxx/access=/fee=no?

My usual answer is you tag sport=swimming you won't be allowed another sport and you won't know in what you swim, hence the namespace schemas make it general and almost come naturally to the mind with their extensions

whatever describes the location: river, lake, pond, followed by its attributes ...
swimming=yes
swimming:fee=no
swimming:lifeguard=no
phishing=yes
phishing:fee=yes
and you may have
swimming:fee:children=2€
swimming:fee:adults=

NB: one might decide that the the convention must be
sport:swimming=yes
what I say is that extending the schema is more natural

Cheers,

André.
