Yup, this is why sub-tagging is such a good idea, so even if you don't tag the most specific key, you might be able to render a less specific one without needing any changes to the rendering config, although h-store might make this redundant since you could just use the main key, and not need a value as well. I wouldn't necessarily use residential, yes residents (adults and kids) may live there on temporary to permanent basis, but some/all of the adults would be working there, similar to a hospital wouldn't be a residential area either.
