If this new OS comes with a new custom App runtime environment, then it's going to be yet another environment and API to learn/support.

What's more sustainable/economic in such cases is to use a custom wrapper that hosts a web application, instead of going fully native. If such a wrapper becomes available for this OS and there really is a demand from users then this approach would be my choice. The core can be platform-independent (web-based, JavaScript/Typescript) ... and the wrapper of course needs to be platform-specific.

That's the approach I take with Ezra.
The only reason I don't support iOS today is that I don't have the time/capacity for additional release overhead associated with "yet another platform". Technically, the technology selection of Ezra should also work on iOS, but with each platform you add to the mix, the release and testing overhead increases ...

Having said all that, I would personally still rather invest into iOS than this new system.

Best regards,
Tobias

Dear app developers,

HarmonyOS is the platform for the latest generation of Huawei smartphones.

Most of us probably haven’t heard of it before.

It would be worthwhile to develop a SWORD app for this and to make it available via the Huawei AppGallery.

Although earlier models could side-load Android apps, this will not be possible going forward.

Best regards,

David
