In general I have found people who are careless about copyrights are also careless about the text. That kind of mitigates against being useful for spreading the gospel. At least in a substantial fashion. The abuses by copyright holders are well known too, but my experience with non-English copyright holders is by and large a desire to spread texts, as long as they are faithfully represented. And for English we have so many good texts, the desire to have an NIV etc in our portfolio is a desire, but far from a necessity.
