Well, I've had no problems with it.  The nice thing about a LiveCD like Knoppix is that you can "try before you buy" - running the OS off the CD before you even do the install.  Though I'd note that for a memory poor machine like the one I mentioned, you have to have disk based swap to get much use out of it.
 
Knoppix (and variants like D*mn Small Linux) are handy recovery disks to gain access to files on a messed up system.
