Hi Marc, The Mach1 Spatial SDK is an effort to make our research, trouble shooting and tooling from the last several years public and available for the community. As such we have released the Mach1 Spatial SDK under a Royalty Free License (free use up to 100,000 distributions).
Even so you are correct in that some parts of the SDK aren't completely open-source. This is to ensure that anyone is free to utilize any part of the SDK as they need and are only required to get a license if they have moved into a very large scale distribution form (over 100,000 end-users). We designed this license to let us serve the community at large but enable us to issue a license if it becomes a working business model where mutually beneficial only. Ensuring we can continue to offer pro bono use to researcher, creators and educational sectors while we support large scale distributions in UX and best practices. We have deliberated on this solution for a long time and decided to design a license to ensure exploratory free use, and offer a humanized summary to our license to make things more transparent, you can view this here: https://github.com/Mach1Studios/m1-sdk/blob/master/license/Mach1-LicenseDiagram.png I hope this helps clarify the intentions but happy to answer any questions.
