I think maybe that's a bit harsh, I know what you mean but due to a lax attitude in audio we now have a dynamic free industry, apart from a couple of major players the whole industry is relying on compression and electronics rather than design and good engineering. This is the legacy of mp3 and poor quality teaching within the industry as a whole. It is something that has gradually become endemic, most engineers under 40 have had limited access to true anolog source and playback equipment and very few in my experience have an lp collection where dynamics are an integral part of the recording. It's been a situation the industry has kind of sleepwalked into. So I think it important we keep the "freeks" on board
