Hi Marc,
I haven't played with SurroundZone 2... be it configured to output 12.0?

Hi Tim.
I'm not an expert, and others on the list could much better answer your
question. But as far as I know, irregular arrays like the new IMAX 12.0
are not well suited for ambisonics reproduction. There's at least one
tool to create decoders for irregular arrays, depending on the exact
positions of the speakers in the room, in relation to a sweet spot.
But then you would need a custom decoder for each IMAX room...
I'm thinking about The Ambisonic Decoder Toolkit:
https://bitbucket.org/ambidecodertoolbox/adt.git.
Maybe the author (Aaron Heller) would have more to say about it.
Another option is to use 12 virtual microphones (for example using
SurroundZone2); that would be the easiest. Even if it would not be the
most accurate method (in terms of ambisonics reproduction), it could
be appropriate.

Hi Marc,
Thanks for getting back to me. The original IMAX 6.0 configuration
consists of LCR across the middle of the screen Centre Top at the top
of the screen above the Centre speaker and L and R point source
surrounds ( not an array ). The Sub channel ( in simple terms) is a
monitored Sub not a physical track or channel. The Sub information
of all 6 main channels is routed through the Sub Array behind the
screen. This configuration stays intact and what has been added to
create the 12.0 is a speaker on the Left Wall and one on the Right
Wall between the Surround speakers and screen L and R. As well a a
pair of Ceiling speakers in front closer to the screen and a pair of
Ceiling speakers closer to the back wall. I've attached a diagram
that might help. ( The Pink being LCR L/R Walls and L/R Rears and the
Blue being Centre Top, and the Ceiling pairs.)
Thank you in advance for any help with this.
Cheers,
Tim

What are the specifications of the new IMAX 12.0 speaker arrangement?
