You don't need to worry about this over-much but you should definitely
check. A sample or two difference (which I would say is to be
expected) isn't going to matter much but all current  converters that
I am aware of use sigma-delta converters which, because of their
internal dsp filtering, can have significant (mS level) delays. Even
without taking buffering delays into account, this could be
problematic. Having said that, modern chips have very much reduced
this but, nevertheless, I would definitely run some impulses through
to check for potential problems. Fortunately, any delays _should_ be
consistent so can easily be compensated for - but check that too!
