I was running KPM Studios at 21 Denmark Street - EMI Music Publishing - and mixed quite a few UHJ albums while I was there. They're in the Ambisonic Discography under KPM Music:

Ambisonics wasn't an official policy: we used Ambisonics in the mixing process just as you would use any piece of outboard studio equipment like a reverb unit or signal processor - no need for official endorsement and no chance of it!

The idea that you had to get record companies to endorse Ambisonics (or any surround system) was a complete waste of time IMO and I never bothered with it. What I wanted to do was to get engineers and producers to use it - a) to give listeners in stereo a more impressive experience, and b) to provide surround listening for those who took the plunge with decoders at home. However, that's such an old story... I'm sure I talk about it on http://ambisonic.net/ somewhere!

Oh BTW Eero, talking of the Discography, Frank Perry ultimately released all his Mountain Bell Music albums on CD (they were originally cassette only).

Best,

So, EMI used 45J? I thought they were solidly SQ until the end of the 70's.
