I downloaded the beta to have a quick look and it doesn't seem to be bad. Interestingly, I've also just upgraded my ProTools LE set up to the new PT9, which no longer requires Avid/Digi hardware, just an iLok. The ProTools full install is 5 Gig, where as Audition is 300 Meg. Without a £1500 add-on, PT9 can't do surround; Audition does it out of the box. The only problem so far has been caused by a couple of old VST plug-ins which caused Audition to crash when scanning, but these were dealt with elegantly by the program.
It's years since I used Audition (it was called something else then) on a PC, and I've been using ProTools and Nuendo with a side order of Reaper, so it'll take me a while to check it out, but I'd say that first impressions are quite good. In the middle of a show at the moment, so it'll be a few days before I get down to some serious work.
