About the 1st of October an error message comes up when I attempt to

I understand that this same error is happening to a number of Mozilla
emails, e.g., Thunderbird. Some entry in the Preferences section
must be changed to avoid this. Can anyone help. If not, I'll have
to say goodbye Mozilla.
Found this in the Mozillazine forun:
mail server responded: 5.1.0 Authentication required. You probably
need to configure the smtp server entry to use a username/password, in
order to prove you are a valid user when you try to send a message to
somebody in a different domain.
