Some months ago, I ceased being able to get the Internet rebroadcasts
of ABC World News shows via my 64 bit Win 7 PC. I don't remember
exactly when this problem first arose and don't know if the problem
was engendered by a newer version of SM or by something ABC did. I
seem to be able to get selected ABC News video streams and some other
news rebroadcasts.

Back in March, I posed the issue above. I restarted Win 7 in 'Safe'
mode as suggested and tried the other fixes suggested. Nothing solved
the problem so I just gave up on 'ABC World News' (their loss since it
means I don't see their commercials!).
Tonight I decided to explore the matter again and I get an ABC-generated
error message indicating that SM does not support something called
'HLS'. I also tried to get at the ABC News program via IE 11 and
received the same error message - IE 11 does not support 'HLS'
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Should I install
Goggle's browser? Many thanks, in advance, for any guidance,
suggestions, etc.
Just tested on my own SM 2.49.4/Win7 PC and after jumping through a few
hoops, I got through.
Initially, it complained that I wasn't accepting cookies (that's my
default), so I enabled them for https://abc.go.com/ and reloaded. Then
it wanted to know my TV provider, so I clicked the Verizon button. They
"verified my account" and granted access. The May 1 World News video
played promptly and normally (no hitches, dropouts, jaggies, etc.).
I then cleared cache and cookies and reloaded, to see what would happen
if I didn't choose a provider. There's an "instant access" link, so I
clicked that, and surprise, surprise, I was asked to choose a provider
in my area. There doesn't seem to be a way to gain access without
choosing a provider.
I did sometimes get a SeaMonkey complaint about a slow script, but when
I let it run it resolved itself. I do use AdBlock Plus, which normally
blocks slow advertising scripts. YMMV.
Hope that helps a little.
