All that jabber and I did not see where anyone could tell me the meaning

to ignore their meaning ? I think not otherwise why would they bother to
put them up !
I am talking about the area where the unexpanded posts and expanded post
trees are shown and only the icons that are in the column just to the left
of the "Subject" column. That's the column that has an icon in the
header, under which there are only icons.
Hover the mouse over the icons and use the tooltips Luke.
You could also post a screenshot of what you are trying to get across.
You aren't on the same page as the rest of us. He clearly said he is
talking about the icons in the message pane next to the subject. Check my
previous posts in this thread for links to screen captures.
Right. I think he is talking about the icon in the Column headings of the
Thread Pane.
He specifically said the icon to the left of the subject. What icon would
that be for you? I don't have an icon there, but I have rearranged my
columns. The header icons are of little value and don't change.
I see he also said, "That's the column that has an icon in the header, under
which there are only icons." so he is talking about the thread icons, but
not the header, the icons for each thread.
To the best of my knowledge these icons have two states, with a green arrow
when there are unread messages in the thread and no green arrow when all the
messages in the thread are read.
