Windows 7 is nearing end-of-life. Do yourself a favour, and switch to
Windows 10. That is the only Windows version that will be maintained,
Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 have no future.
Yes, it does require a bit of learning, but after a while you don't know
any better.
After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 I noticed that my (quite
powerful) laptop was much faster and snappier. That is still the case
with Windows 10.
According to Microsoft, Windows 10 is the last Windows version, there
will be no new ones, just major upgrades.
Put as much memory as possible in your laptop (at least 8GB) if you can
afford it.
Having a desktop and not a laptop, having no touch-screen, not wanting
my usage history sent back to Microsoft, and using old software that has
no new versions but will not work with Windows 10, I choose to stay with
Windows 7.
My wife's PC does not even have the hardware capacity for Windows 7.
She still uses Windows XP. That is helpful because our Canon scanner is
still in excellent condition and is installed on her PC because I cannot
find drivers for it to work with later versions of Windows.
I'm working in the ICT, and over the years I've heard numerous excuses
why someone didn't want to upgrade. So, nothing new here.
If you want to continue using operating systems that are unsafe, because
they are no longer updated with security patches, than that is entirely
your own choice and your own responsibility too!
