I found the SSL tab in preferences. and compared my normal user profile with the test profile. In test, where it works, I appear to have a more secure setting: "Don't load insecure content on encrypted pages" is selected. So I'd say that then the images might be rejected as insecure when using the test profile. But, there it works??!! I placed the same check in my normal profile, restarted Seamonkey, the red flag is gone, but still no images displayed...
