Windows 7 (x64) SeaMonkey 2.22.1 RealPlayer 15.6.0.14 Winamp 5.66 Winamp and RealPlayer do indeed work with a number of the streams I like, mostly classical music. Although Winamp does not appear in the list of plugins with either [Help > About Plugins] or [Tools > Add-ons Manager > Plugins], I can select a link to a stream and receive the broadcast.
However, I am having trouble with some live streaming broadcasts. The affected (and afflicted) links end with the extension .pls (e.g., listen.pls, mp3.pls). When I select a .pls link, I get an error popup that says: > C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temp\listen-7.pls could not be opened, > because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the > association in your preferences. The "listen-7.pls" might instead be "mp3-5.pls" for a mp3.pls link. When I go to [Edit > Preferences > Browser > Helper Applications], I cannot find an entry for .pls. I do find an entry for MIME type audio/x-scpls but not audio/pls, neither of which are registered with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (IANA). How do I create a new Helper Application entry for .pls files? -- David E. Ross <http://www.rossde.com/> Where does your elected official stand? Which politicians refuse to tell us where they stand?
