Hello all, If anybody is interested I created a new branch on launchpad to test rendering the planets from HiPS surveys:
https://code.launchpad.net/~guillaume-chereau/stellarium/planets-hips For the moment I just manually set the surveys of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn to an online source, based on the data zip that Alexander put online previously for testing. The plan would be to also support local and assets surveys.
