Your build 5294 in the (qt-4.8-compat) worked OK in Debug and release mode. 
What did you do different when you merged it into the main branch.
Because that is where the problem must be
I sure won't run when compiled in release mode and I can't see where the 
problem is.
The changes made to incorporate the perlin noise clouds sure messed things up 
for a feature of dubious use.
