So, did you read the sections in the STAF FAQ that I pointed to and try
the things they talk about? e.g. You may need to update the DNS settings
so that the machines can communicate via STAF or you may have to unblock
the port(s) that STAF is using (e.g. 6550, 6500), etc.

Yes, I can do a non-staf ping of guest1.

Thanks,

Can you do a non-STAF ping of this guest1 system? e.g. ping guest1 You
need to be able to do a non-STAF ping of this guest system before you can
do a STAF ping of the guest system.

See sections "3.1.3 Explain RC 16 when attempting to send a STAF request
to a remote machine" and "3.1.4 Why can't my STAF machines communicate?"
(and maybe section "3.1.5 Why aren't my entries in /etc/hosts being used
for STAF communication" in the STAF FAQ at
http://staf.sourceforge.net/current/STAFFAQ.htm#d0e932 for more
information on debugging this.

Subject: [staf-users] STAF on virtualized Fedora 18 is not pingable

Hi,

I have a virtualized Fedora 18 guest and I have STAF 3.4.12 installed on
the guest. I'm able to ping other machines from within the guest but other
machines are not able to ping the guest.

It has a bridged networking interface - so it's IP is seperate from that
of the host.

The firewall is turned off on both the host and the guest. I'm at a loss
as to why I'm not able to ping the guest. I checked with tcpdump and the
guest is not seeing the ping packet at all even though the host is.

Could I get any help with this?

The error message is the standard error message RC 16.

[test@host1 ~]$ staf guest1 ping ping
Error submitting request, RC: 16
Additional info
---------------
STAFConnectionProviderConnect: Error performing test read on connected
endpoint: recv() RC=113: 22, Endpoint: ssl://guest1

Thanks,
- Swapna
