I'm not sure what you mean. STAF provides a PROCESS service that con be
used to run a process on the specified machine. The process that is run
can be most any executable. STAF itself does not provide any services
that manage an image.
In regards to your second question, I'm not sure what you mean. An API to
control STAF in what way or for gathering what information? STAF
provides a SHUTDOWN service to shutdown STAF. STAF provides the ability
to return information about how STAF is configured. Most STAF service
provide the ability to list or query the things that the service manages.
The STAF PROCESS service can be used to run most any command, so it can
run commands that gather various information.
