Phil,

Most likely the Java you are using is 32-bit. When running the 64-bit
version of STAF, you need to use a 64-bit Java. I got the same error when
I used a 32-bit Java with 64-bit STAF. Changing to a 64-bit Java allowed
me to load a Java STAF service with 64-bit STAF.

Thanks,
David

Subject: [staf-users] AS400 JAVA Staf Service question

I have recently installed STAF on an iSeries (OS400) machine and am quite
impressed that it works.

I have hit a snag however.

I have custom staf services written in JAVA and I am unable to load them.
The error message is
Error on Service definition line:
SERVICE AB LIBRARY JSTAF EXECUTE /QIBM/staf/service.jar
Error code: 27
Reason : Error constructing service, JSTAF, Result: Unable to connect to
JVM

Does anyone know about this or atleast how to diagnose what is going wrong?

I have installed the 64 bit version of STAF and I have added the location
of the JVM to the PATH variable in the STAFEnv.sh file.

Thanks in Advance

Rumble
