We are using VMPerl API to start a virtual machine and also the STAF service is started at the boot time of VM. It intimates the Host OS that the OS is booted and STAF is up then sends its IP-Address (Host-only Network) to Host OS.
We never got any errors / pop-ups. I think when you are starting VM there could be some errors present or there are some devices that are not present but still an entry is there in .vmx file. Can you specify what pop-ups you are receiving? What is the OS you are using as VM?
