Hi,

When I go to open a file in Spyder, the file type is defaulting to
'Supported text files (*.R *.jl etc), and doesn't allow me to open a Python
file. Even adding *.py to the list of supported text files doesn't work. I
have to select 'Python Files' from the dropdown. I realise it's a small
annoyance and is easily worked around, but it's a pain! Is there any way to
get it to default to 'Python Files'?

Also, despite selecting 'Open files from Finder with Spyder' under
Application/Interface/macOS integration, that doesn't happen. I'm not sure
if the two issues are related.

I'm using Spyder 5.5.5 on macOS Sonoma 14.5.

thanks,
Emma
