Well that went nowhere.  How about this:  I thought I would just install 
Spyder 4 from scratch, and install the Jupyter plugin with that.  But the 
docs at https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder-notebook say it can't be used 
with the installers on Windows and Mac.  So is the Jupyter notebook 
supported only on Linux?
