I agree, General Air is probably the most common one used. I’ve never had
anyone question a listing or anything.

I do find it kind of interesting that you can use shop air with no problem (no
listing required), but if you want a dedicated compressor, now it needs to be
specifically listed for fire protection.

General Air has been providing listed air compressors for decades, they are not
the only one but we pretty much only use them for air compressors

All,

The 2025 NFPA 13 states the following:
8.2.7.5.2
*<https://codesonline.nfpa.org/code/search/8eb5977b-1437-474f-8319-29d916f8d741/np_33757375-bf9d-11ee-bf07-000d3a112b1a.html#ID000130010842>
Where an air compressor is dedicated for the sprinkler system, the air
compressor shall be listed for fire protection.

The appendix further clarifies:
A.8.2.7.5.2 Temporary use of non-listed air compressors should be permitted
when listed compressors are not immediately available.

Is the device required to be listed as an assembly? I would assume so but I’m
having trouble finding compressors that carry a listing. I see where the
pressure switch might be listed or the motor carries a listing but I see no
“listed” compressors. Anyone that can clarify what the listing requirement
actually is?

Thank you,
Chris
