I am working on a building with a unique facad where I am trying to figure
out the calcs. Each end of the building has a 24x24 “tower” where the roof
slope on 4 sides to a peak. The center of the building over the entry has a
24x17 inverted V sloped roof. Connecting each of these is a mansard. All
construction is combustible. The roof slopes are 7:12. The total area is
approximately 2000 sqft.

The sections are separated by a plywood barrier.

The occupancy is Light Hazard. It’s is a dry system so I have to increase the
RA by 30%. Since the slopes are steep enough, I have to increase another 30%,
for a total of 2535 sqft design area.

My layout consists of 27 sprinklers (including 3 attic AS in the center
section). No realistic way to decrease due to the arrangement. This totally
blows out that calc with a 27 sprinkler flow.

Any thoughts on how to decrease the number of sprinklers flowing? I have tried
all of my tricks but haven’t come up with anything yet.
