I am designing a system for a Group II Hangar in accordance with NFPA-409 (2016).
My question is focused on the hose demand. * 7.8.6 requires hose station water flow in addition to overhead sprinkler system and low-level foam system. * 6.2.9 Appendix identifies the hand hose system as for “Occupant” use. From this, I am assuming a design flow rate of 100 gpm @ 65 psi. * 6.2.9.2 states to design for two hose lines to be operated simultaneously. * 6.2.9.3.4 requires a flow rate of 60 gpm from foam-water hose stations. * Utilizing the same drop for both a foam-water hose real skid with concentrate tank and a Class II water-only hose valve connection with hose rack, I would assume My calculation of two hose stations flowing 100 gpm each @ 65 psi pressure at the valve will also prove the 60 gpm foam-water demand. * 7.8.7 requires a 500 gpm outside hose allowance. My interpretation is calculation would include the simultaneous flow of sprinkler demand, low level foam demand, inside hose demand of 200 gpm, and outside hose allowance of 500 gpm. Is there anything that would allow me to deduct the 200 gpm inside hose station flow from the 500 gpm outside hose allowance?
