I feel I am being a bit misunderstood. I simply need to configure my MX to have SpamAssassin running.I do not need any antivirus .
How do I do it ? Running RedHat Linux 8.1 and Sendmail 8.12.10 in it.

We have that exact same thing.  works a treat.  At first I was instructed to
use amavis or whatever it's called. I tried that and got very frustrated
with it.

I then stumbled across MailScanner which has support for both SpamAssassin
and an anti-virus scanner.  it's dead easy to install.
http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/      it modifies sendmail a
little so you have two instances of sendmail running, an incoming, outgoing.
i've got it running on about 4 machines with no dramas yet...

you can use fprot as your virus scanner if you wish, or simply do some
blocking of potential bad attachments as well.
