This 'larger max size' hit me already :-)

I changed to about 2M after we got a lot of spam structured like
'header+mini_ascii+html+pic1+pic2+..picN' which went straight
through spamc being too large.

Shortly thereafter we had false positives seemingly by
MIME-encoded PDFs and WORD-Documents containing 'random'
(pseudo) Text. 

So spamassassin seems to check attachments too. (?)
