In looking over

SPF seems like a good step forward combating spam. In the cvs version of sa 2.70 in the USAGE file mentions SPF briefly

- A very handy new feature is SPF support, which allows you to check that the message sender is permitted by their domain to send from the IP address used. This has the potential to greatly cut down on mail forgery. (see http://spf.pobox.com/ for more details.) However, sendmail will not expose the MAIL FROM: sender address by default. So if you're using sendmail, please add this to /etc/sendmail.cf :

H?l?X-Envelope-From: $f

My question, I'm using amavisd-new to tie together anti-viri and anti-spam. Do any changes need be made to amavisd-new or the MTA to take full advantage of SPF?

I'm guessing if sa gets called by amavisd-new sa will have the ability to query the dns server for a domains SPF record?

Also will SPF rules be implemented by default? SPF, while nifty, is still in the draft phase and not widely implemented/tested.
