The auto learn function is working but I am still getting quite alot through ( nearly 120 spams this weekend ).
Well, I'd advise not relying entirely on autolearn.. do some manual training with sa-learn as well..
I am slowly winning the battle but would like to incorporate more rules but I am usure where to place them. Do they need to be in the local.cf file or the user_prefs file ?
Short answer, any *.cf file in /etc/mail/spamassassin will work, and is probably the best place. You don't have to put them into local.cf, you can have a separate bigevil.cf in the same directory and it will read both.
you _can_ put rules into user_prefs, if you need to, however:
1) if you use spamd you MUST include an allow_user_rules 1 statement in your local.cf
2) it really has to be in user_prefs.. no other files in ~./spamassassin are read for config.
