Umm,

So what about the estimated *100,000* or more computers on the internet
belonging to unwitting private individuals that have been purposly
infected with spam relaying and proxying software via email worms and
other backdoor approaches, that are now hijacked by spammers ?

Remember Sobig.f ? That was a dropper for software purposely written by
spamers to hijack peoples computers to allow them to send spam through
them without getting caught.

In most places I know deliberately breaking into computer systems and
using them for your own nefarious means without the knowledge of the owner
of the system is a crime, and spammers are doing this *constantly* and
*blatently*. There was even an article about it recently on the online
press somewhere where they were bragging about it.

It's estimated that nearly half of all spam is now being relayed through
hijacked computers, and many of these same computers are also being used
to proxy requests to the spammers websites to try and hide the servers
which host the links in the spam.

This is simply outright criminal activity and must be stopped, so I say
throw as many as they can catch and prove guilty in jail...

It's just like any other lucrative illegal activity - if the perpetrators
feel safe that they can continue to do it without consequences they will.
If there is a strong risk of being caught and hauled off to jail, many
others will think twice.

I think that day is not far away now...

Regards,
Simon
