I recall reading something about the syslog perl module having problems logging
to Solaris' syslogd via a unix domain socket.  I have syslogd listening on it's
tcp port and send log data that way instead.  Unfortunately, I cannot locate
that message that I am referring to for reference at this point, but I believe
it was on this mailing list.  At the time I was running Solaris 8 and perl
5.6.1 - I'm not sure if things have been fixed since.

Do you explicitly set --syslog-socket when running spamd?
