Hi all,
I had a fully functioning system running SpamAssassin(daemon) 2.55 Antivir
2.66 Exim 4.12 all on top of SuSE 8.2.

Having many ppieces on SpamAssassin I picked up on the fact that it was good
advice to upgrade and keep apace of the progress being made.

So I dutifully done the method as detailed in the 'install notice' , that is:

# Installing or Upgrading SpamAssassin
#------------------------------------
#
#The easiest way to do this is using CPAN.pm, like so:

# perl -MCPAN -e shell [as root]
# o conf prerequisites_policy ask
#       install Mail::SpamAssassin
# quit

My problems have started since then. SpamAssassin can be run from the
command line, but running spamd is a different problem.
If I use '/etc/init.d/spamd start' the cursor appears at a fresh prompt with
none of the usual verbal output advising that the daemon has started 'OK'
etc.
However I can start the daemon by forcing it using '/usr/bin/spamd -d -a -L
start' command.

Where have I gone wrong, any ssistance would be most welcome.
