My first install (2.55) was via CPAN, and upgraded (also via CPAN) to 2.60 on RedHat 7.3 and had zero problems.

Thanks, Ian.
I removed everything according to the manifest printed with a "make uninstall". (Does one have to do this? I thought one could install on top of an earlier version.) I rebuilt from the 2/60 sources on the web site. I got the same error. ("spamd[PID]: Use of uninitialized value in open at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/Mail/SpamAssassin/TextCat.pm line 63.) I removed everything again. And reinstalled 2.55. And now no errors, but also no testing of spam. Headers indicate:
X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 tests=none version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp)
Anyone -- How do I undo everything and start from scratch? And is 2.60 dependant on a particular version of Perl?
