Hardwired compensations are too easily discovered and forged by spammers.

The Bayesian classifier is the compensation mechanism in 2.60.  I'll bet
that your false positive rate would drop significantly if you fed even one
of those mis-tagged yahoo groups messages to sa-learn --ham (assuming you
already have fed it the initial 200 each of hams & spams).
