I have yet to download Spam Assassin, but I am seriously looking at it & wonder if anyone would mind replying to this, taking into account the following information.
I am running a low volume Mac OSX (client version, not server), machine which runs server applications from Tenon intersystems called iTools current version 7.1, alongside a couple of other minor applications. The mail server is the inbuilt sendmail - no spam handling is yet implemented, but I need to do something about the amount of spam that's coming in, as one of the accounts is receiving about 500 pieces of spam a week.
My questions I guess are:
1 Is it possible to install Spam Assassin for filtering & deleting the spam without altering the existing sendmail configuration? If so, could somoeone point me to some sort of wlakthrough or eail me with some details please.
2 If I need to alter the sendmail configuration to install Spam Assassin as above in question 1 - how difficult/easy is it.
3 I noticed Mailscanner during searches - is it relatively easy to couple this with Spam Assassin?
Many thanks for any help - I'd really rather not fiddle with what is currently a pretty tightly locked down mail server & which is working well. I have around 15 domains that are handling mail, so I need to try & keep the server up & running while not stuffing any working things up. Thanks again.
