I can't say anything about plain numbers, since I don't know how much
spam exists in your 8000.

Before doing any tweaking here, SA flagged well over 90% of all spam
sent to a dozen different email addresses. I've now expanded SA's
coverage to around 50 email addresses, and it catches over 95%, probably
98% to 99% of all spam.

If yours isn't then make sure the network checks are enabled (they flag
loads of spam by themselves), and activate Bayes learning and testing.
Unless you're at/near 90%, I wouldn't look at "tightening things up", but
rather turning on those features you don't yet have active.
